Overview
D9Tech was a cornerstone in the development and sustenance of the Undersea Enterprise Network (UEN) program, delivering essential engineering services that ranged from maintenance to advanced operational support. Our involvement was comprehensive, encompassing program analyses, network modeling, operational case analysis, development, and portfolio management. This case study outlines our contributions towards enhancing the IUSS program, illustrating our role in system program management, strategic advisement, and technical review coordination with naval scientific and advisory groups.
Data Management Enhancement
Our engineering team was instrumental in bolstering the Commander Undersea Surveillance (CUS) data architecture. This included the advancement and management of the CUS logistical database, which was vital for maintaining the integrity and functionality of the surveillance system. Key responsibilities undertaken included configuration management and the facilitation of data migration, ensuring seamless updates and integrity of system inventories.
Advancing Information and Communications Technology
D9Tech’s technical experts provided pivotal advisory roles to the CUS, especially in Cyber Security Inspections (CSI). Serving as the principal technical advisors, our team oversaw the configuration, installation, and management of multiple network environments across various classified enclaves. This included recommending and assessing new equipment, ensuring their compatibility with the system’s electrical and environmental needs.
IT Operations and Maintenance
Our commitment to the IUSS program extended to the comprehensive technical support of signal processing, acoustic data collection, and communications systems. D9Tech personnel addressed all aspects of system maintenance, from technical troubleshooting to preventative and corrective measures. This ensured the operational integrity and longevity of critical surveillance equipment, advising on technology updates, repairs, and lifecycle management.
Cybersecurity and Workforce Augmentation
As cybersecurity threats evolved, D9Tech remained at the forefront of defense by serving as the primary liaison for certification and accreditation issues. Our engineers actively managed accreditation packages, supporting the CUS Information Assurance (IA) Manager. This involved direct engagement with existing and future systems to ensure robust security measures were in place and maintained.
Software Development for Enhanced Data Management
Utilizing the BMC IT Service Management Suite, D9Tech provided comprehensive support for the UEN’s data management needs. Our experts in software development and architecture delivered enterprise-level services, ensuring efficient service management, database integrity, and effective data migration processes.
Systems Design and Infrastructure Improvement
Our role as principal technical design advisors facilitated significant advancements in systems design and infrastructure. D9Tech personnel managed the evaluation and installation of new equipment, addressing electrical and environmental considerations. Furthermore, our team led efforts in constructing and modifying structures to bolster mission capabilities, coordinating the deployment and maintenance of electronic systems across the IUSS operational spectrum.
Through strategic partnership, innovative solutions, and dedicated service, D9Tech continued to support and enhance the capabilities of the Integrated Undersea Surveillance System, ensuring the United States Navy maintained its strategic advantage in undersea surveillance and security.
